At New Forest Solar Design, we are dedicated to transforming the renewable energy landscape through innovative design and expert guidance. Our mission is to provide effective and sustainable solar solutions that not only meet client needs but also contribute positively to the environment.

We have a passion for helping clients with complex sites, new builds, interesting renovations, stretching goals, or existing homes or buildings that need careful thought.  We work with our clients, listening carefully to their needs and hopes, then helping them to identify the options and then describe and specify the solar & battery scheme that best meets their wishes.  We have no tie to any installer or supplier and are also happy to independently help clients invite quotes from their preferred, properly qualified, certified installers.

New Forest Solar Design is owned and operated by Joe Stevens. Joe has a long background in the environmental sector.  After working as a land manager and nature conservation expert across Australia & Southern England, Joe went on to build on his strong science background, working for Environmental Regulators as a technical expert and advisor.  In recent years Joe was national Senior Advisor for Environment & Business for the UK Environment Agency. Joe has wide experience of the planning system, from the preparation of individual planning applications, through to Environmental Impact Assessment and National Planning Policy. 

In 2022, Joe took the plunge to get more hands on again, training as a Renewable Energy Scheme Designer and in 2023 joined one of the South East's most successful installers of bespoke Solar, Battery, & Heat Pump schemes as a Solar & Battery Scheme Developer.  In Autumn 2024, Joe set up his own business, Joe Stevens Limited, which trades as New Forest Solar Design.

We are excited to announce that from early 2025 we will also be offering our clients: SAP Energy Performance Assessments and Certification for new builds; and an Energy Performance Certification and Retrofit Advice service for existing buildings. 

Joe lives in south Hampshire with his wife.  Now the children are fledging, the family will soon be downsizing to move to a house on the New Forest coast. Joe and his family have a rowing gig and a wonderful old Sailboat on a swinging mooring in the New Forest, fully equipped with a fabulous off grid solar system of course.
